    According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.86 square miles (2.23 km2), all of it land.[1] McLeod County Roads 1, 9, and 23 are the main routes in the community. Minnesota State Highway 7 is in close proximity to the city. A bike trail running east–west through the middle of town, the Dakota Rail Regional Trail, connects Lester Prairie to the Twin cities.
